Prevent
Warehouse Fire Dangers with Appropriate Pallet
Rack
The possibility of a warehouse
fire could endanger your employees, your merchandise,
and the future of your company. Therefore, warehouse
fire safety is extremely important when designing
your warehouse and selecting a pallet
rack system.
To prevent warehouse fire, many
companies bring in a fire consulting firm to advise
them on pallet rack choice, warehouse design,
sprinkler system maintenance, and other fire concerns.
A fire safety consultant would likely cover the
following ways to avoid warehouse fire dangers:
- Does
your pallet rack allow for water to flow through
from overhead sprinklers? Wire
shelving, wire rack decking and open decking
are good for this purpose.
- Do
you have an appropriate overhead sprinkler system
or do you have an in-rack sprinkler design?
- To
put out a warehouse fire, how many hose stations,
fire extinguishers, hydrants, etc. are in your
warehouse?
- Does
your pallet rack meet
longitudinal and traverse flue requirements?
There should be sufficient space—usually
6 inches—between loads in a rack structure.
Don’t let the worries of
a warehouse fire keep you awake at night. Call
Ace Industrial for the best new and used pallet
rack available.
