Although
the general public probably never thinks about
it, pallet rack is probably
the most common means of storage in the world.
Since it holds items in bulk, pallet rack is responsible
for staying strong and sturdy even when it’s
loaded with many thousands of pounds. While there
are many styles and brands of pallet rack, here
are some general rules everyone should follow
to ensure their pallet rack is handled in a way
that reduces the chance for injuries and accidents.

Pallet rack is not designed to withstand heavy
blows. It scratches and dents fairly easily,
and most of the damage is caused by forklifts.
Any pallet rack with a major dent should be
replaced. A major dent in pallet rack creates
a dangerous situation for everyone in the warehouse.

Minor dents and scratches in pallet rack may
not cause a serious problem right away, but
minor damage does indicate that the pallet rack
has been compromised in some way. Pallet rack
with scratches and minor dents should be monitored
carefully.
