Pallet Rack: Measuring Up for Your Warehouse

When customers call us to purchase pallet rack, the conversation often starts out the same way: “Hello, I need to buy some pallet rack.” But when asked about the layout of their facility and how much pallet rack they need, most people don’t know more specific (yet important) information about measurements.

Situations vary from warehouse to warehouse, but here are some dimensions to consider when buying pallet rack:

• What is the length, width, and height of a single pallet? (The most common length and width are 40” by 48”.)
• What is the measurement of the fork entry side of the pallet?
• What are the measurements of the load on each pallet?
• With the load included, how much will each pallet weigh?
• What are the measurements of the warehouse space you have available (length, height, width, aisle width, etc.)?
• What are the capabilities of your forklift?
