Pallet Rack Safety Alert: Forklift Injuries and Deaths

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, has released some startling studies about the number of injuries and deaths caused by forklifts. Every warehouse with a pallet rack and forklift system should be aware of the risks involved with forklift operation and how it has impacted companies across the country.

According to NIOSH, nearly 100 workers are killed and another 20,000 workers are seriously injured in forklift-related incidents in the United States every year. Forklift overturns cause the most deaths. Overturns represent about 25 percent of forklift-related fatalities. The next two most common forklift incidents are (1) workers on foot being struck by forklifts, and (2) workers falling from forklifts. These statistics demonstrate why forklift certification is required by law.

For more information on installing the safest and most efficient style of pallet rack for your company, call Ace Industrial at (800) 300-6034. Choosing the best pallet rack is the first step in arranging your facility to prevent warehouse forklift accidents.
